Sovereign City Purchases Chicago’s WNTD AM 950 from Multicultural Radio Broadcasting
Green Bay, Wis.—Sovereign City Radio Services, LLC, officially confirmed today that it has reached agreement with Arthur Liu’s Multicultural Radio Broadcasting, Inc., to purchase WNTD-AM. “Sovereign City is very excited to have WNTD—a station in the nation’s third largest market—as the cornerstone of our new acquisitions and sales brokerage division,” stated Scott Krusinski, Vice President of Sovereign City Radio Services (SCRS), who spearheaded the acquisition team that also included Denise Moline, Esq., and broker Bill Schutz.
Licensed to Chicago, Ill., WNTD currently programs a brokered Spanish format. The station broadcasts on 950 kilohertz with 1 kilowatt of daytime power and 5 kilowatts of nighttime power from two different transmitter locations. “Chicago is a large and diverse market and Multicultural can be proud of the format and station they have built,” Krusinski stated. He went on to say that the Spanish language format would continue at least for the near term. “We are weighing our options before we decide if we want to leave this format in place or look at another offering that might better serve the market and Sovereign’s goals.”
Sovereign City Radio Services, LLC, was founded in 2007 by Mark Follett for the purpose of acquiring, leasing and brokering AM and FM radio stations in large and medium markets across the United States. Mark Follett is also the co-founder of Relevant Radio—the nation’s largest Catholic talk radio network that is heard on 34 stations nationwide that reach over 30 million people a week.
Based in Chicago, Scott Krusinski joined Sovereign City Radio Services this past June as vice president. A seasoned radio veteran, Krusinski is responsible for the day-to-day operations of SCRS including the management of all its brokerage deals. SCRS is currently negotiating several deals that will likely result in the addition of seven stations to its line up within the next three months. Prior to joining SCRS, Krusinski has worked in many facets of the radio business including station ownership. He has developed an extensive network of contacts within the industry over the past twelve years and has been instrumental in the organization and growth of companies that have owned and operated radio stations. One of Krusinski’s specialties is the acquisition of underdeveloped stations and maximizing their signals for resale purposes.
